The ultimate installed height of the fencing is approximately 7'. Six inches of the plastic fence grid is "flared" out onto the ground away from the protected area to keep deer from pushing underneath the fencing. For over ten years now this height has proven to be sufficient. The thin profile of the fence coupled with the fact that deer have poor depth perception, the deer cannot see where the fencing actually starts and stops. The deer will not attempt to jump the fence.  It is recommended that when Benner's Deer Fencing is first installed, white flagging streamers (included) need to be temporarily tied to the fencing every 10 feet so the deer do not run right into it.

Which fence style should I use for my application?

Standard Deer Fence

Standard fencing for both small enclosures and acreages has proven a good choice for Pacific Coast Black Tail Deer. Virtually all the fences installed on Vancouver Island are the Standard weight. They have proven very effective in keeping the deer out.

Heavy Perimeter Deer Fence

Heavy Perimeter fence is used to enclose areas over a 1/4 acre in locations with high deer pressure or crossing established deer paths.  If you have white tail and mule deer we strongly recommend this fencing.

WHAT HEIGHT SHOULD I USE?

The height of the fencing depends on the size of area to enclose. Generally speaking the 7.5`fence is preferred for deer protection in perimeter fencing.  The 6' fencing can be used for smaller garden enclosures.  The 5' fence products have been used successfully to raise the height of existing shorter fences.
